Damaged: It refers to the commodity
or its packaging when already received in these conditions for
shipment or when the damage is verified only upon the landing
of the same.
Dangerous Goods: explosives, flammable,
corrosive materials, etc. for whose handling and transport there
is a series of international regulations.
Deadline: Deadline to deposit the
containers to be shipped.
Deck: Floor of the ships.
Demurrage: Fine or indemnification
paid by the freighter to the shipowner, for the first having exceeded
the term stipulated in a Freightage Contract as per travel, for
the loading and/or unloading operations on the ship. Such retention
of the ship at the port for a period of time besides that granted
for loading or unloading.
Door to Door: Cargo is collected
at the door of the shipper and delivered at the door of the purchaser.
Distribution: Outbound logistics
or exit logistic flow, it is the flow of commodities and information
from the end of production lines to the end user.
Draft: The distance graduated in
metros (or decimeters) or feet (and inches), measured from the
keel of the ship to the water line observed at the time of its
reading. Such distance so graduated at its own scale, indicating
the immersion capacity of the ship's hull. Mirror of the documents
to be made.
Drawback: Term used for the import
of raw materials with favorable treatment or exemption of import
taxes, with the condition that these are used as components of
products for export.
Dry-Cargo Container: Type of conventional
container, used for dry cargo, existing in the measures of 20
and 40 feet, it being the more currently commonly found and handled
in international trade.
Duty (pl. duties): Obligation, duty,
fee.
