Landing: Landing (of persons). Unloading
(of commodities).
Lashing: Tight moorage of the cargo
on the deck or cellar of the ship or airship, so it remains safe
during the travel. The material used for such purpose.
Lay day - Laytime: Demurrage, demurrage
time, the term stipulated in a freightage operation as per travel,
during which the freighter shall normally undertake the loading
or unloading operations of the ship, without having to pay for
demurrage to the shipowner.
L/C: Letter of credit: Payment order
that the importer contract before a bank, on behalf of the exporter.
LCL: Less than container load, however
the term is used when the container is partially stuffed by the
shipowner with the batch of the shipper (together with others),
and delivered at the destination also by the shipowner, it being
the costs paid in both cases by the shipper and consignee, respectively.
LES: Logistics execution systems.
Liner Terms: Term of maritime transport
contract through which the freight includes all the loading, stowage
and unloading expenses of the commodity, i.e. all that paid by
the shipowner.
LIS: Logistics information system.
LLP - Lead Logistics Provider: Leading
supplier of logistic services, this is an organization that handles
the total management of logistic services for a company, aggregating
and coordinating the services of multiple suppliers of logistic
services. It is fully responsible for the logistic operation before
the client and acts as a simple and single point of contact between
client/services.
Loading: Loading, shipment of a
load.
Logistics: This is the process of
strategic management of purchases, movement and storage of materials,
parts and finished products (and the information related to them)
by means of the organization of its marketing channels in such
a way that the ongoing profitability and invoicing is maximized,
by means of the efficient servicing of orders.
Logistics Reserve: It refers to
administration of physical flows and of the information related
to them, corresponding to materials discarded after their original
use (post-consumption reverse flow) and of those products that
are returned to the manufacturer for many different reasons, becoming
part of the so-called post-sale reverse flow.
LSP - Logistics Service Provider:
Outsourced suppliers of logistic services.
