Far East: Area considered to include
China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines
and Indonesia.
FCL - Full Container Load: However
it is used to designate the House to House transport.
Fee: Commission.
Firewall: This is a knot in the
network that consists of equipment and programs to isolate private
networks from public networks. There are two basic firewalls:
the double portals and the host portals (dual-homed and screen-host
gateway).
Flag: The nationality of a ship
or of an airship in relation to the flag it carries.
Flat Rack: Type of open container,
having only frontal walls, used for long or irregular cargoes
which, otherwise, would have to be transported loose in conventional
ships.
Forwarder: Forwarding agent (freight
forwarder – cargo agent).
Free Port: Port where the commodities
may freely transit.
Freight Forwarder: Freight agent,
this is an individual or company, which by operating on behalf
of the shipper, arranges all the necessary details for shipment
and documentation, which includes the use of the services of a
main transporter (carrier of carriers).
